Prosecutors submits to court psychiatric examination of Zhuravel, who burned Koran

Public prosecutors have submitted to a court in Grozny, as evidence of guilt, the results of a forensic psychiatric examination that found Nikita Zhuravel, a resident of Volgograd, accused of burning the Koran, mentally healthy. The defence requested the court to take into account the letter with positive characterization of Nikita Zhuravel from the administration of the cadet school.

The results of the forensic psychiatric examination proved that Nikita Zhuravel was aware of the crime he was committing, the “Sapa Caucasus” Telegram channel reported.

According to the investigators’ version, in the backpack seized from Nikita Zhuravel contained an image of the coat of arms of Ukraine and a sheet of paper with the image of a crossed-out letter “Z”.

Yulia Antonova, a defendant’s advocate, emphasizes that the presence of some materials in her client’s case is not justified, since Nikita Zhuravel has not been charged under the articles on state treason or cooperation with foreign organizations to the detriment of Russia. The advocate filed a motion to request Nikita Zhuravel’s personal file from the Sevastopol Presidential Cadet School, since it contains certificates and letter with characterization of the defendant.
