Suspected militants' helpers detained in Chechnya
Two residents of the mountainous Shatoy District of Chechnya were detained by power agents on July 13 as suspects of complicity to militants. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it at the Republic's MIA.
"According to our operative information, last spring the detainees rendered assistance to members of one of bandit groupings that acted in that area. Their task was to supply foodstuffs to the grouping. In the course of interrogation, they confessed of their incriminated crime. Now, the facts are verified," said the source in the Ministry.
In a couple of recent weeks, power agents have activated their special operations against armed underground members. However, they are accompanied by extrajudicial executions and kidnappings.
Thus, according to the HRC "Memorial", on July 7, in the village of Dzhugurty, Kurchaloy District of Chechnya, alleged employees of local ROVD (District Interior Unit) kidnapped residents of Akhkinchu-Borzoi village Rizvan Albekov and his son Aziz. Some hours later the kidnappers publicly executed Rizvan Albekov.
