Eight suspected militants detained in Chechnya within two days

On May 20, in the course of special operations conducted in Chechnya against members of armed formations employees of law enforcement bodies detained three suspected militants' helpers. Four helpers and one former militant were detained on the previous day, on May 19, as asserted by law enforcement bodies of the republic.

Besides, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by a source in Chechen militia that a suspected militant was liquidated by special troops of Russian MIA in the Grozny District.

It is already the second suspected militant killed after May 16, when the leadership of Chechnya announced a start of wide-scale operations against members of armed formations. Two days ago, at night on May 19, in the outskirt of Shalazhi village, Urus-Martan District, militiamen killed an unknown man, who had allegedly opened fire on them from a Makarov pistol at an attempt to detain him. He still remains unidentified.
