Kabardino-Balkaria: terror act at Aushiger HPP prevented

Today, the United Information Centre (UIC) of the law enforcement bodies of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has reported about prevention of a terror act at the Aushiger Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) located in the Cherek District of the republic.

The incident was prevented at the background of a series of acts of sabotage committed in Kabardino-Balkaria.

"Employees of the OVD (Interior Division) for the Cherek District have prevented a subversive-terror act that was prepared at the Aushiger HPP," the "Interfax" quotes the UIC.

The Aushiger HPP generates about 20 percent of the whole electric power in Kabardino-Balkaria.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported that on November 17 at 9:13 in Adyl-Su Gorge, Elborus District of Kabardino-Balkaria, unidentified persons by triggering explosives damaged a transformer station.

Later, in Azau Meadow, an explosion broke a cable between the fifth and fourth supports of the aerial ropeway Azau-Krugozor. Fortunately, nobody suffered.

Power agencies have started searching the culprits.

According to their version, members of illegal armed formations can be involved in the incidents.
