Georgia's MIA: two policemen killed by explosion of Russian drone

On November 17, two policemen were lost and eight wounded as a result of explosion of a Russian drone (pilotless aircraft) in the village of Plavi, Gori District (East Georgia), runs the statement of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia, published in the Ministry's website.

We remind you that earlier Russian and Georgian media disseminated information that the explosion took place, when a group of sappers tried to demine a bomb, and that the latter was found in the garden by a child. According preliminary information, a teenager was among the casualties.

"At about 3:00 p.m., the air space of Georgia was violated by a Russian drone, which fell down near Plavi village of the Gori District. When a group of MIA's sappers arrived to the place of the incident, the drone blew up. Sappers Georgiy Shvitaridze and Marat Nozadze died in situ, and Tengiz Kandelaki was heavily wounded," runs the statement.

According to Georgia's MIA, the following employees of the Ministry were wounded: Alexander Bezhanishvili, Aleko Arveladze, Gocha Kodzhaev, Yuri Vasiliev, Zurab Kvizhinadze, Dato Zerekidze and Kamo Galustyan.

"Also, Aleko Bidzinashvili, 10, was wounded. All the wounded persons were placed into the Gori Military Hospital," the statement reports.
