Kadyrov responds to reports of “Chechen trace” in assassination attempt in Uzbekistan

Ramzan Kadyrov called the version of the presence of a “Chechen trace” in an attack on a car of a former public sector employee in Uzbekistan a “fake news.”

“A couple of weeks ago, a car with a former official of the presidential administration was shelled in Uzbekistan ... Without waiting for the results of the investigation, pro-Western and some opposition media in the country far-fetched the version of a ‘Chechen trace.’ And then they even traced it to me. I am not going to respond to the provocative fake news,” the leader of Chechnya wrote on his Telegram channel.

Ramzan Kadyrov also spoke complimentarily about the policies of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan. The leader of Chechnya has added that Chechens and Uzbeks are fraternal peoples, “connected by their common historical past,” and that Uzbekistan is associated with an important stage in the life of his father Akhmat-Khadji Kadyrov, the former leader of Chechnya.

The RBC reports that the above-mentioned incident was the shelling which occurred in the suburbs of Tashkent on the night of October 26. Two unidentified people fired several shots at a Range Rover car and then fled. There were no casualties. A criminal case on attempted premeditated murder has been instituted, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan reported. Four suspects have been detained.
