Georgia lost 326 its citizens in South Ossetia

The leadership of Georgia has published new data about the country's losses in the course of recent events in South Ossetia. According to this information, 326 citizens of Georgia perished, namely: 154 militaries, 155 civil citizens and 17 MIA employees.

As of today, a total of 2234 wounded persons have been registered. 14 citizens of Georgia are thought to be missing. Also, three journalists were killed (one foreigner and two Georgians), and six media employees were wounded (three foreigners and three Georgians), the "Interfax" reports.

The "Our Abkhazia" website writes that these figures are based on the information from the Ministries of Public Health, Internal Affairs and Defence. Among civilians, the count of wounded persons made 1964, 170 of them take their out-patient treatment.

We remind you that under the criminal case opened by the State Office of Public Prosecutor of South Ossetia on the fact of the August aggression of Georgia, the investigation has established the circumstances of the death and burial of more than 500 persons.

The investigatory group has received preliminary information by interrogating neighbours and relatives about more than 1600 casualties as a result of the attack of Georgian troops on South Ossetia.

Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the ICPO, said on September 5 that the number of lost Russian peacekeepers in the warfare in Georgia made 59 persons, 104 others were wounded.
