Georgian special troops enter the territory of South Ossetia

Georgian armed formations have invaded Mosabruni village, which belongs to South Ossetia, as Boris Chochiev, Minister for Special Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, has declared.

"Georgian militaries have intruded into Mosabruni village located in the territory of the Leninogorsk District of South Ossetia. Now, negotiations are underway with the leaders of the Georgian district, which borders the Leninogorsk on liberation of the South-Ossetian village," he said.

The Mosabruni village is 70-80 kilometres off the capital of the republic, Tskhinvali.

Some media have reported the capture of the village, but Boris Chochiev has specified that Georgian policemen have entered today one of the districts of the breakaway republic, however, no capture is on the issue, the "Komsomolskaya Pravda" writes.

"After Russian troops have left South Ossetia, Georgian interior units penetrated on Monday deep into the Leninogorsk District of South Ossetia, and now are in Mosabruni village. We've contacted the heads of the Georgian district, adjacent to the Leninogorsk one, in order to have the Georgian interior force peacefully withdrawn outside the borders of the Republic of South Ossetia. Otherwise, we'll take measures to force them to withdraw," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Mr Chochiev as saying.

The Staff of the North-Caucasian Military District (NCMD) of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation and the staff of Russian peacekeepers in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone did not confirm the information about the entrance of Georgian special troops to Mosabruni. "I have no information on this fact, therefore, I can't confirm," said to the RBC Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Bobrun, head of the information and public relations service of the NCMD.
