Parliament of North Ossetia demands to disarm Georgia

The Parliament of North Ossetia demands demilitarization of Georgia or reduction of its armed forces and asserts that Georgia should compensate the material damage from the war in South Ossetia. This is stated in the Parliament's appeal to Russian authorities.

"As a result of the crimes accomplished by Georgian armed forces, hundreds peaceful citizens perished, more than 30,000 became refugees, dwelling districts of Tskhinvali are ruined, objects of social and cultural sphere are destroyed, as well as educational establishments and city's sustenance objects, dozens of Ossetian villages got burnt and plundered," runs the appeal of the North-Ossetian Parliament.

"Trying not to admit a new bloodshed and a new genocide, the Parliament of North Ossetia has repeatedly addressed Russian leaders asking them to recognize the independence of South Ossetia. Unfortunately, the tragedy has burst out again, this time - at the scale that is shocking by its brutality," says the document.

The parliamentarians of North Ossetia call on the law enforcement bodies of the Russian Federation, Russian and international human rights organizations to start gathering evidences "of the crimes committed by the authorities of Georgia and President Saakashvili who gave an order to liquidate the peaceful population."

"Criminals should face the international tribunal," the MPs believe.
