In Armenia, investigation finds it inexpedient to change freedom restriction measures of arrested deputies
On July 22, the session of the temporary parliamentary commission set up to investigate the events on March 1-2 in Yerevan listened to the invited official of the Special Investigatory Service, Inspector for Especially Important Cases Vaagn Arutyunyan, who stated that so far the inquiry thinks it unreasonable to change the freedom restriction terms (arrest) to the detained deputies of the National Assembly of Armenia.
"At the present stage, to ensure the objectivity of criminal investigation and to prevent any interference into the proceedings, with account of the public danger and other circumstances, and also considering in view of other circumstances of putting in custody, the body of preliminary investigation, outgoing from the interests of the case, finds it inexpedient to change the restriction terms," Mr Arutyunyan said.
