Refusal to conduct examination outrages relatives of Sultanov killed in Dagestan
The court that considers the murder case of Magomed-Ali Sultanov, a resident of the city of Kayakent (Dagestan) has refused to appoint a repeated expertise, which could show that there were several murder weapons. The judge's decision has outraged the casualty's father and brothers.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 31, the above court again postponed the decision on conducting an expertise and scheduled the consideration of the issue for November 8.
On November 8, the judge failed to grant the request to conduct a new examination of Sultanov's body, said Ilyas Saidov, an advocate, who represents the interests of the Sultanov family, adding that a new examination could confirm that there were two murder weapons.
On May 30, 2024, the forensic expert admitted that in his conclusion he failed to describe all the wounds on Sultanov's body. Therefore, the case should be sent for additional investigation, the advocate is sure.
Ilyas Saidov has noted that casualty's relatives were shocked by the judge's decision. "His father and brothers were there; and I was afraid that they would simply not be able to restrain themselves," he said.
The father has confirmed that after each court hearing he had to calm down Magomed-Ali Sultanov's two brothers, who were outraged by the court's decisions.
At the next hearing on November 22, the second advocate who represents the Sultanov family's interests will file a motion to declare the initial expert examination inadmissible, Ilyas Saidov has stated, noting that neither the defendant's family nor the families of those suspected of complicity have made any attempt to reconcile with the Sultanov family.
