Picket demanding Magomedtagirov's resignation on in Dagestan

Today, several women got together in the Lenin Square in Makhachkala with posters demanding resignation of Adilgirey Magomedtagirov, Minister of Internal Affairs of Dagestan.

The picket organizer was the human rights organization "Mothers of Dagestan for Human Rights"; its leader Svetlana Isaeva told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the motive for the picket was in the actions of the Republic's power agencies, which continue kidnapping, torturing and murdering young people.

Ms Isaeva has also declared that the authorities of Makhachkala were notified about the picket. Despite of it, by midday, several militiamen came up to them and in the rough words demanded to stop the action; hearing the refusal, they pulled the posters out of women's hands and tore them into pieces.

Svetlana Isaeva has added that the women are going to continue their picketing, while the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan have noted that they know nothing about the picket and the incident with militiamen, although the MIA building is several meters off from the protesters.
