Abkhazia stops all contacts with Georgia

President of Abkhazia Sergey Bagapsh has announced that after the recent terror acts in the territory of his Republic, Abkhazia suspends all contacts with Georgia.

"Abkhazia stops all contacts with Georgia because of Tbilisi's policy of state terrorism," Mr Bagapsh said after the sitting that he held in the Galskiy District. "The terror act in Gagry, Sukhumi and Gal are the links of the same chain, and we can't disregard it," he emphasized.

Sergey Bagapsh has also informed that a decision was made "to strengthen the Abkhazian-Georgian border." "Special measures will also be undertaken in the territory of the Galskiy District," the President of the non-recognized republic told the "Interfax".

Let us note here that on Sunday, July 6, in the centre of the city of Gal, in one of cafes a powerful explosive burst out. Ten persons were injured by the explosion. Later, four heavily wounded victims, a young woman among them, died. They are: Dzhansukh Muratiya, acting head of the Gal branch of the State Security Service ; frontier guard Sukhran Gumba; Anzor Lagvilava, interpreter of the Gal sector of the UN Mission; and local resident Ivetta Toriya. The six hospitalized persons are residents of the Galskiy District.
