South Ossetia and Transdniestria sign cooperation agreement

On July 4, Presidents of Transdniestria and South Ossetia Igor Smirnov and Eduard Kokoity signed a cooperation agreement of two non-recognized republics.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Transdniestria has stated that Smirnov and Kokoity signed agreements on trade and economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation.

The agreements identify industry, agriculture, transports, telecommunications, including mobile telephony, tourism and leisure to be priority cooperation directions.

The RIA "Novosti" reports that a permanent working group comprising officials of Transdniestria and South Ossetia will be set up to control the performance of the agreements.

On the same day in Tskhinval, the heads of foreign policy agencies of Transdniestria and South Ossetia signed cooperation and consultations protocol, and the head of the administrations of the cities of Tskhinval and Tiraspol signed a memorandum on friendship and cooperation, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Transdniestria has added.
