In Kabardino-Balkaria, prosecutors try to deprive Larissa Dorogova of the lawyer's status
On April 16, 2008, Khatu Zhigunov, President of the Bar of Kabardino-Balkaria, initiated disciplinary proceedings on termination of the lawyer's status of Larissa Dorogova.
The pretext was the presentation of the Department of the Registration Service for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), which, in its turn, referred to the materials presented by the Republic's Prosecutor's Office.
The presentation of the KBR's Prosecutor's Office states that advocate Dorogova had a meeting at the investigatory isolation facility with defendant Zaur Tokhov "without a properly issued warrant and without a written permit of the body in charge of the defendant, which is a violation of Article 18 of the Federal Law "On Custody of Suspects and Accused of Committing Crimes" and the criminal-remedial legislation.
The "Caucasian Knot" has informed earlier that the advocate regularly received anonymous letters with threats of physical execution. The latest letter with threats of murder was accompanied by a Kalashnikov cartridge.
The Kabardino-Balkarian Public Human Rights Centre stood in defence of advocate Dorogova and sent a letter to President of Kabardino-Balkaria Arsen Kanokov.
The letter runs, in particular, that everything taking place around advocate Dorogova is an attempt to force her to give up execution of her professional duties of defending civil and constitutional laws of the Moslems, whose interests she is representing.
The "Caucasian Knot" has already informed that advocate Larissa Dorogova had already managed to cancel several decisions on stopping the criminal prosecution of perished militants, which had been passed by the investigatory group of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation for the South Federal District (SFD). The Nalchik City Court recognized them to be illegal.
With her participation over 50 relatives of lost militants filed their complaints to the European Court for Human Rights against failure to give out bodies. Now, with her help several more persons are also preparing their complaints to the European Court.
The advocate herself thinks that her prosecution is connected with her activities in this sphere.
