Iranian authorities forbade Azerbaijanis to commemorate victims of Khodzhaly tragedy in the mosque "Nur"

On February 26, the Iranian authorities stopped the service in memory of the victims of Khodzhaly tragedy in the Teheran mosque "Nur". This memory event was regarded as anti-Iranian, and its participants were violently forced out of the mosque, as sources at the Congress of Azerbaijanis of the World have informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Besides, the Iranian authorities have strengthened the security of the Embassy of Armenia with the aim to prevent protest actions of local Azerbaijanis in front of the building. So far, the official Baku gave no reaction to the events, but other political forces of Azerbaijan find this incident as unfriendly from Iran.

In its turn, the Embassy of Iran has informed that there was no ban to hold the memorial service on the victims of Khodzhaly tragedy in the Teheran mosque "Nur" existed, just on that very day there was a sanitary day in the mosque, and the organizers of the ceremony were asked to hold their service in some other mosque.

We remind you that the tragedy in Khodzhaly took place at night of February 26, 1992. The Armenian armed formations killed 613 residents of the settlement, located in Nagorno-Karabakh. 487 persons were wounded, 1275 more persons were taken hostages, the fate of most of them is still unknown, and 150 persons disappeared.
