Defendant in the case on attack on the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria wants to refuse from his advocate

At the following session of preliminary hearings of the criminal case on the events of October 13 in Nalchik (Kabardino-Balkaria) appointed on February 20, defendant Kaziev is going to refuse from the services of advocate Sukhikh, T. V., appointed by the court. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learnt about it from well-informed sources.

It is also known that defendant Kaziev tried earlier to petition against services of advocate Sukhikh; however, the court rejected the petition.

Earlier, when moving his petition, defendant Kaziev explained the reason why he had to refuse from the services of the lawyer. According to the defendant, his defender "would not come to meet his client, and during the whole period after he had been appointed, he appeared only once and was in a great hurry. He promised to come, but never did." Moreover, the petition runs, the defendant repeatedly tried to invite his advocate through the SIZO administration, but all in vain.

The well-informed sources report that the problem of advocates is rather serious. Some of them gave up the case by themselves since the royalties to the lawyers provided by the state were halved, others were rejected by the defendants, since, in their opinion, some of the advocates were only signing the protocols "where investigator shows."
