"Beslan Mothers": prosecution of "Voice of Beslan" can cause interethnic collisions

The "Beslan Mothers" Committee has treated the judicial persecution of the "Voice of Beslan" Public Organization as "revolting" and "immoral".

Susanna Dudieva, Chair of the "Beslan Mothers" Committee, told about it to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent:

"We are deeply indignant with the fact that the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic Ingushetia has now, two years after the publication of the appeal of the 'Voice of Beslan' to 'anyone who sympathizes the victims of the Beslan terror act', found extremism in it. It is surprising that the answer to that open letter is now given by the law enforcement bodies of the Ingush city, whereas it had been addressed not to the Prosecutor's Office of Ingushetia, and it has not a single word about this region.<...>

Instead of getting engaged in investigation and convict those who had admitted such illegal and irresponsible actions and decisions, the state has decided to prosecute those who speak the truth and wish to live in a normal and lawful state."

Ms Dudieva has also expressed her concern that the presentation of unmotivated charges of extremism to those who suffered from the terror act in Beslan can grow into interethnic conflicts with unpredictable consequences:

"An essential number of terrorists originated from Ingushetia, and now the prosecutor's office of this republic initiates a criminal case against the victims of the terror act. The jury has acquitted the militiamen of the Malgobek ROVD (District Militia Department) of Ingushetia who had admitted the formation and preparation of the gang that had attacked Beslan in their territory."

On behalf of the members of her organization Susanna Dudieva has called on the Russian and international society to support the "Voice of Beslan", which the Nazran prosecutor's office tries to accuse of extremism.
