Abkhazia suspends talks with Georgia until release if her two state servants

Until release of two senior employees of the Galskiy District Administration - Fridon Chakaberia and David Sigua - the leadership of Abkhazia refuses to continue dialogue with Georgia. Sergei Bagapsh, president of Abkhazia, has told about it today.

"Our claims to release Fridon Chakaberia, head of administration of the Bagryab village of the Galskiy District, are still ignored by the Georgian party. We understand quite well that the reason of his arrest, and of kidnapping David Sigua, a senior officer of the administration of the Galskiy District, was the so-called cooperation with Abkhazian authorities," Mr. Bagapsh has noted.

Meanwhile, the Security Council of Abkhazia has made a decision on participation of the Abkhazian delegation, headed by Sergey Shamba, Minister of Foreign Affairs, in the meeting of the Group of Friends of the UN General Secretary on settling the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict in Geneva. The basic topic of the event will be a discussion of the causes of suspension of the settling process of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict.

The "Caucasian Knot" has already informed that David Sigua, chairman of the electoral commission of the Galskiy District, was kidnapped in the morning of February 3. From December 5, 2006, the Georgian authorities are detaining Fridon Chakaberia, head of administration of the Bagryab village of the Galskiy District.
