Boris Nemtsov registered as candidate for Sochi Mayor

Boris Nemtsov has been registered as a candidate to the post of Mayor of Sochi, the host city of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

In total, the intention to run for the Mayor of Sochi was officially expressed by 26 candidates, of whom 20 passed on March 27 the preparatory registration stage at the Electoral Commission - deposition of bail or presentation of signatures. The registration procedure of the candidates, who have fulfilled the requirements, has started today and will last till April 3 - on that day the Electoral Commission plans to announce the final list of registered candidates.

The fact of Boris Nemtsov's registration by the Sochi Electoral Commission was reported today by his press secretary Olga Shorina to the "Gazeta.Ru".

Early election of Sochi Mayor will take place on April 26. It was announced after Vladimir Afanasenkov, the previous Mayor of Sochi, declared his resignation on October 29, explaining his decision by his backbone problems and forthcoming surgery.
