Musa Daurbekov's relatives suspect ex-president's retinue

The relatives of Musa Daurbekov, who was kidnapped and yesterday found murdered in Ingushetia, have confirmed their previous version about possible involvement in Musa's murder of Ruslanbek and Uruskhan Zyazikovs - security head of former President Murat Zyazikov and his father. The "Caucasian Knot" the correspondent was told about it by Salamkhan and Ahmet Daurbekovs, casualty's father and cousin.

Salamkhan Daurbekov said: "When my son Musa was kidnapped at the building of 'Rosselkhozbank' in Nazran, pretty many militiamen rallied there. In my presence, Alikhan Tokhov - the driver who was in the car with Musa during kidnapping - gave evidences to a Russian inspector and correspondents. I confirm what is published in the 'Ingushetia.Org' website. This information appeared there according to Tokhov."

One of Daurbekovs' relatives gave a call to the editorial board of "Ingushetia.Org" and presented the following version of Musa Daurbekov's kidnapping: "Musa Daurbekov's brother was under criminal inquiry. However, Uruskhan and Ruslanbek Zyazikovs gave the Daurbekovs a guarantee of safety and a promise of conditional verdict to the suspect. After arrival home and surrender, Daurbekov was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Therefore, Daurbekovs moved a claim to Zyazikovs of 10 million roubles as compensation. The latter were not happy to pay; they kidnapped the convict's brother."

After kidnapping, Musa Daurbekov was tortured for a long time and then killed. The gunmen took his body to the outskirt of Barsuki village and left near farmers' estates. They also put his switched on mobile phone near the body to make his search easier, as the website writes.

The version about involvement of Ruslanbek and Uruskhan Zyazikovs in the crime is the basic one, to which Daurbekovs stick. According to Ahmet Daurbekov, Zyazikovs were linked with "death squadrons".

"Death squadrons are not units of special agencies. They are made of such criminals like Musa and Murat Zyazikovs and Musa Evloev. These are gangs comprised of different people who have their certificates and use them for crimes," Ahmet has explained.

According to the Human Rights Centre "Memorial", the "death squadrons" are units within various power agencies acting in the territory of the republics of Northern Caucasus and specializing in kidnapping, illegal detentions, torture and arbitrary executions.
