Activist of "Mothers of Dagestan" challenges detention of her sister Dinara Butdaeva

On January 22, Gyulnara Rustamova, an active member of the human rights NGO "Mothers of Dagestan for Human Rights", informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that she had lodged a complaint to the Kizil-Yurt Court against illegal actions of local guards of public order towards her sister Dinara Butdaeva, who was detained, as reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan, on January 11 by militiamen from the Kizil-Yurt OVD (Interior Department).

Ms Rustamova has stated that her sister was detained illegally, and neither she nor the advocate were admitted to see her.

Gyulnara Rustamova also believes that the charges against her sister of illegal purchase and storage of fire-arms have no grounds.

"No doubt, the firearms were planted on her. She was taken from Kizil-Yurt out to Khasavyurt. Here, three militaries of Slavonic appearance suggested her to take a pistol into her hand; when she refused, they roped her and forced the pistol into her hand. Thus, her fingerprints were obtained; then, a statement appeared that somewhere in Khasavyurt a pistol with her fingerprints," Ms Rustamova has stated.

Ziyavutdin Uvaisov, advocate of the detained Butdaeva, had also stated earlier that the fire-arms were planted.
