Chechen asylum seeker is to be deported from the Netherlands
Khalide Taipov, a Chechen refugee who applied for asylum in the Netherlands, is likely to be deported from the country. He was detained in the street as an "illegal" and put in a special camp in Terpol, from which refugees are usually deported to their native countries.
Officials of the emigration service said he had no other alternative. Khalide's application for asylum was rejected.
His lawyer tried to protect him referring to numerous reports of human rights groups about the catastrophic situation of Chechens in Russia and their plight in Chechnya. However, he did not succeed.
