Krasnodar krai authorities reconcile with the residents of Imeretin valley in Sochi

The Krasnodar krai authorities have reached an agreement with the residents of Imeretin valley who protested against their resettlement due to the construction of facilities for Olympic Games 2014 in Sochi, announced Vasili Nadiradze, deputy chief of Krasnodar krai administration, at the press-conference today.

"We have found options for the resettlement of people residing on the territory of the Olympic park", said the deputy-governor. According to him, the regional authorities met with the residents of Imeretin valley, including representatives of the Old Believers' community, on Saturday, reports RIA "Novosti".

There is no resistance on the part of the residents and the construction has started in accordance with the normal schedule, notes the IBK edition.

RSN reports that the Krasnodar krai administration intends to offer the Imeretin valley residents to be resettled 66 hectares of land with proper infrastructure on the territory of this locality. Vasili Nadiradze, regional deputy-governor, claims that not a single person is going to be resettled without resolving his or her social problems.

Previously, in conformance with the federal law, residents were to be offered other land plots for building their houses instead of the land alienated for building Olympic facilities. There were such offers but they were not accepted by the local residents.
