Capital of Chechnya getting ready for international film festival

On June 13-19, the city of Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, will host the First International Film Festival under the name of "Noah's Ark". Preparation for the event is now especially fast.

The jury of the film competition included Rezo Chkheidze, USSR People's Actor and head of the "Georgia-Film" Concern (Chairman), director Ovidio Salazar from the USA, producer Line Halvorsen from Norway, scriptwriter Mirza Aliev from Russia, critic Khan Mohammed from Egypt and other figures of the cinema world. The prize for the best fiction movie makes 30,000 US dollars.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by a source at the Ministry of Culture of Chechnya that the opening ceremony of the "Noah's Ark" Film Festival will take place in the restored building of the Grozny Drama Theatre, while the films will be on at the newly built "Yunost" (Youth) cinema. The Republic's leadership has allocated 100 million roubles for the needs of the Festival.

Cinematographers from 26 countries of the world have already expressed their intention to take part in the Festival. Apart from Russia, potential participating countries are Uzbekistan, Belarus, Vietnam, Iran, Spain, France, Sweden, etc. It has been also stated that American movie starts Dolf Lundgren and Eric Roberts, and well-known Russian actors Sergey Bezrukov, Nikita Dzhigurda and Irina Alfyorova have agreed to be the Festival guests.

    The Central District Court of Volgograd awarded prisoner Ruslan Mitrofan compensation in the amount of 1000 roubles, recognizing that the administration of a prison hospital in Volgograd violated the prisoner’s right to receive medical care by not providing him with an HIV medicine.
