Musa Pliev: being unable to stop the website as mass media, Prosecutor's Office now deals with "Ingushetia.Ru" domain name

Today, the Prosecutor's Office of Ingushetia has lodged an additional claim to the Kuntsevo Court of Moscow demanding to deprive the "Ingushetia.Ru" website of its domain name, since the Office feels incapable to close this Internet-based edition as a mass medium. This was explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Musa Pliev, advocate of Magomed Evloev, the website owner.

According to Mr Pliev, initially the public prosecutor had applied to the court "in the interests of the Russian Federation" and demanded to ban the operation of mass medium "Ingushetia.Ru" for publication of extremist materials. However, advocates of the website owner presented a letter to the court received from the Russian State Committee for Culture Protection ("Rosokhrankultury") that the web resource was not registered as a mass medium.

"The Prosecutor's Office is presenting plenty of evidences that extremist materials are published in the domain name of Ingushetia.Ru. However, only the court can recognize materials to be extremist, but the Office has failed to present such rulings or judgements. As to expert's opinions, they are not mandatory for the court, since we can present similar opinions from our part."
