Georgian opposition starts a mass protest action in the capital of the country
Today at 2:00 p.m. local time (1:00 p.m. Moscow time), a mass protest action of Georgian opposition has started in Tbilisi.
Several thousands persons have already gathered in the square in front of the building of national Parliament, and more people continue to arrive, Radio Liberty reports.
The Mayoralty of Tbilisi has sanctioned the rallies in the period from February 15 to February 25, but warned that if the action acquires illegal character, and appeals to overthrow the power are heard, it will be stopped.
We remind you that the demands as stated in the memorandum of the opposition include dismissal of the Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission, punishment of those guilty of falsification of presidential election results, release of political prisoners and dismissal of Director General of the Public Broadcaster of Georgia.
