People in Chechnya find Umarov's declaration of the Caucasian Emirate to be groundless

Residents of Chechnya believe that the statement of the leader of separatists Doku Umarov about creation of the "Caucasian Emirate" has no real grounds and is beneficial for the authorities of Russia.

The Umarov's declaration of the Caucasian Emirate in the territory of Northern Caucasus has already caused a serious split among the leaders of Chechen separatists.

A resident of Grozny, Ramzan by name, a former teacher of one of the Republic's higher schools, shared his opinion with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent:

"For some reason, everything that took place and is taking place in Chechnya has always been to the favour of the Kremlin leaders. In 1999, when it was necessary to bring Yeltsin's 'successor' to power, explosions of houses happened in Moscow, and the militants invaded Dagestan. When the West began to demand from Moscow to launch the process of political settlement, the 'Nord-Ost' burst out. Then, when the international community again gave a close attention to Chechnya, the Beslan tragedy occurred. Even Shamil Basaev's death happened right on the eve of the G8 Summit in St-Petersburg."

"And now, when the parliamentary and presidential elections are on the edge and the West again starts to criticize Russia, the Chechens come up with the idea of the Caucasian Emirate," he added.

"Chechen people need no Emirates or Caliphates. People wish to live peaceful life, build houses, and bring up children instead of running the endless Jihad with unclear aims," an officer of the Republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs asserts.

We remind you that in October President of the non-recognized Chechen Republic of Ichkeria Doku Umarov proclaimed a new formation - the Caucasian Emirate, and declared himself to be the Emir of the Caucasian militants and the leader of Jihad.
