At background of journalistic investigation, "Beslan Mothers" tell about meeting with ICRF head
Alexander Bastrykin, the Chairman of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), has met relatives of the victims of the terror act in Beslan. There are many blank spots in the case, the participants of the meeting have asserted. The meeting took place amid the inquiry into the circumstances under which the school building with hostages was stormed, conducted by journalist Elena Milashina.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on the 20th anniversary of the terror act in Beslan, journalists noted that authorities still have failed to give a specific answer as to how terrorists managed to capture the school, where over 300 people perished. Milashina's article says that the command ordered tanks to open fire on the school.
Susanna Dudieva, the chair of the public organization of the association of victims of terror acts "Beslan Mothers", has noted that the main task of the court after the terror act was to define the guilt of the terrorist Nurpashi Kulaev. But at the hearings it became clear that apart from him, there were structures guilty of allowing the terror act. "We demanded to investigate how terrorists managed to get to Beslan," she said.
At the meeting, it was stated that the investigation is ongoing, since the bodies of five terrorists have not been identified. The "Beslan Mothers" believe that the case against the remaining terrorists should be closed.
The meeting with Bastrykin was difficult for its participants, Ms Dudieva has noted. Nevertheless, the "Beslan Mothers" were satisfied with the meeting with the ICRF Chairman. As noted in the Milashina's investigation, one of the main questions of the Beslan tragedy remains unanswered: why at night, after the assault, the school wing was shot at point-blank range with tanks and flamethrowers, blown up, and then burned down.
