Jehovah's Witness* from Akhtubinsk complains of torture in custody
Rinat Kiramov, a Jehovah's Witness* from Akhtubinsk, who is serving his sentence for extremism, has complained that his cellmates had tortured him for several days, demanding that he slander other believers.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the cassation court in Krasnodar had upheld the verdict of the Astrakhan Regional Court, which sentenced the above Rinat Kiramov to seven years in jail, finding him guilty of extremism.
On April 20, Kiramov was tortured by his several cellmates at the medical correctional institution No. 3 in the Tula Region, his advocate has stated. The cellmates demanded from him to name other Jehovah's Witnesses* living in Akhtubinsk. After he refused, they kept beating him up for several days, tortured with water and a stun gun. On April 20-24, Kiramov was fed once a day and was deprived of sleep, the "OVD-Info"** project has reported.
