Chechen authorities report about reconciliation of feudist families

The Achkhoi-Martan District has hosted a reconciliation ceremony of two families that were at war over a person's murder, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Chechnya has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Chechen authorities are periodically reporting on the reconciliation of blood feud families. In particular, on January 2, it became known that in the Nadterechny District a reconciliation ceremony was held of two families who had been at war for 18 years due to a person's death.

Earlier, a resident of Staraya Sunzha killed a resident of the village of Samashki, Achkhoi-Martan District. The reconciliation process took place under the auspices of Ansar Khetiev, Deputy Mufti of Chechnya, the SAM has reported.

"Deputy Mufti Khetiev thanked the casualty's relatives for finding strength to make reconciliation for the sake of Allah," the "Chechnya Today" News Agency has quoted the SAM's message.

Through the efforts of the special commission, they managed to resolve about 1500 conflicts based on blood feud, says the message.

In 2007, the active reconciliation phase of blood feudists was launched; the Muftiate (same as the SAM) and the authorities literally enforced reconciliation, Ruslan Kutaev, the President of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations, has noted.
