Nalchik court sentences officer to freedom deprivation for evading service
The Nalchik Garrison Military Court has sentenced Dagi Gadiev, an officer from Ingushetia, to five years in penal colony, finding him guilty of leaving his military unit without permission.
The convict has explained his absence by caring for his sick mother, but the above court rejected this argument, pointing out that Gadiev has his sisters and father who could care for her, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project has reported.
According to the verdict, Dagi Gadiev, a contract officer, "in order to temporarily evade his military service in order to relax and spend time at his own discretion with his relatives, that is, without any valid reason, failed to appear at his military unit."
The court has treated Dagi's "sincere repentance, admission of guilt and pregnancy of a citizen with whom he had entered into a religious marriage" as mitigating circumstances.
