Israeli citizenship of Rasul Gamzatov's granddaughter outrages social network users

Shakhri Amirkhanova, a granddaughter of the Dagestani poet Rasul Gamzatov, has stated that she was proud to receive Israeli citizenship. This statement, made amid the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, has caused sharp criticism among users of the "VKontakte" social network.

Ms Amirkhanova has reported in the social network that she had received an Israeli passport and noted that she was surprised and proud of this, the "Vesti.Ru" reports. "Thank you for welcoming me with love in my new home," the outlet quotes Shakhri as saying.

Shakhri Amirkhanova left Russia in February 2023; she had been the editor-in-chief of the Russian versions of the Tatler and Harper's Bazaar magazines.

In the "VKontakte" network, most commentators have condemned the act of the poet's granddaughter.

"War will always put everything in its place: who is a patriot and who is a traitor," the user Artur Gadjimagomedov has expressed his opinion.

"Well, how can we understand such Muslim women? Doesn't she know how people die at the hands of Israelis? She writes this brazenly and mockingly," the user Patimat Magomedova was indignant.
