Highest award of Tatarstan goes to Adam Kadyrov after criticism from local MP

The leader of Tatarstan handed over the Order of Duslyk (Friendship) to Adam Kadyrov after a critical comment from a local MP about the situation with the beating of Nikita Zhuravel and about the awarding of Kadyrov Jr. The MP from Tatarstan himself had to apologize for his statement, when Rustam Minnikhanov, the leader of Tatarstan, hastily distanced himself from the local MP’s opinion.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in August, Nikita Zhuravel, a resident of Volgograd, taken to a Grozny SIZO (pre-trial prison) after his arrest in a case on burning the Koran, was beaten. On September 25, Ramzan Kadyrov posted a video of the beating and stated that Nikita Zhuravel was beaten by Adam Kadyrov. The leader of Chechnya praised his son for the beating. The actions of the Ramzan Kadyrov’s son were also approved by close associates of the leader of Chechnya. On October 19, Azat Khamaev, a member of the National Assembly of Tatarstan, criticized the awarding of an order to Adam Kadyrov, but apologized for his statement on the same day. The apology came after Rustam Minnikhanov, the leader of Tatarstan, stated that the Azat Khamaev’s statement had nothing to do with the position of the republic’s Muslims.

Adam Kadyrov was awarded the Order of Duslyk for his significant contribution to strengthening interethnic and interfaith peace and harmony, reported Adam Delimkhanov, a Russian State Duma member from Chechnya. The award was handed over to Adam Kadyrov personally by Rustam Minnikhanov, the leader of the Republic of Tatarstan, Adam Delimkhanov wrote in his Telegram channel.

The awarding of Adam Kadyrov with the Order of Duslyk by Rustam Minnikhanov brought to a higher level the long-standing practice of apologizing for criticism of Ramzan Kadyrov or his associates.
