Court suspends case on beating of Volgograd schoolboy by law enforcer
In Volgograd, a court has suspended proceedings in a case against a policeman accused of beating a 14-year-old teenager. The court’s decision has been explained by the impossibility of the policeman’s participation in the trial.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that two policemen were suspected of using violence against a 14-year-old teenager in Volgograd. According to the investigators’ version, the teenager began to run away from the law enforcers, who were in civilian clothes, but they detained him, using force and special equipment. The mother of the victim complained that the teenager had undergone surgery. In October 2022, a lawyer reported that investigators had refused to take the suspects into custody.
On August 2, 2022, in the village of Seleznyovka in the Traktorozavodsky District of Volgograd, law enforcers in civilian clothes pushed a 14-year-old schoolboy into a car and took him away, mistaking him for a drug dealer. The schoolboy was hospitalized due to a high fever and a bruise on his head, the teenager’s mother reported.
The Traktorozavodsky District Court of Volgograd suspended the criminal case against a policeman accused of beating the teenager. The decision has been made on the basis that “there is no real possibility of participation of the accused in the trial.” At the same time, the court is aware of the suspected policeman’s whereabouts, but has not yet disclosed it, the “Vysota 102” (Height 102) reports.
Earlier, it has become known that the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has completed an investigation into the case against the policeman who, according to the investigators’ version, beat a teenager, mistaking him for a drug dealer, reported the “Travmpunkt”, a human rights project for victims of violence.
