Advocates challenge access denial to death case of girl from Malgobek
The investigator has unreasonably refused to provide advocates with the materials of the death case of a four-year-old girl from the city of Malgobek, the advocates assert and ask the court to cancel this refusal.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 6, Magomed Bekov, an advocate, together with his colleague Bilan Dzugaev, reported that the investigator refused to allow them to participate in the case of the girl's death, since, according to the investigator, this requires a petition from the suffered party.
On April 30, 2023, the above girl of four was hospitalized in Malgobek in grave condition, and died there on May 16. The girl's mother has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm to her daughter. The death of the child caused a great resonance in Ingushetia: sources testified that the girl had been subjected to severe sexualized violence, which official sources failed to mention. Human rights defenders demanded to make the inactive guardianship officials responsible.
Magomed Bekov filed a complaint with the Basmanny Court of Moscow against the refusal to grant access to him and Bilan Dzugaev to the case files of the girl's death, the "Fortanga" outlet reports. Mr Bekov has stressed that advocated can act as representatives of the suffered party.
