Relatives of Dagestani man killed in Chechnya complain about persecution
In Dagestan, the police have put a widow of Islam Magomedov, who was killed in Chechnya, on their preventive police registration list and regularly visit her at home for conversations, a mother of Islam Magomedov reports. The visits of the police cause inconvenience, complained the widow of the killed man.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on March 10, 2020, the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya found eight killed natives of Dagestan guilty of encroachment on the lives of law enforcers and illegal arms trafficking, but closed the criminal case because of their death. The Court of Appeal refused to reconsider the case for the relatives of the killed men. The widows of the killed Dagestanis are on the preventive police registration lists, says a mother of Pakhrudin Makhaev, one of the killed Dagestanis.
The police have put the widow of Islam Magomedov on their preventive police registration list and regularly visit their house, notes Umraikhan, the mother of the killed man. According to her, the law enforcers ask various questions and force the widow of the killed man to sign a letter stating that her address has not changed.
The widow of Umraikhan’s son notes that the visits of the police cause her inconvenience.
In Dagestan, the preventive police registration is being carried out with numerous violations, lawyer Galina Tarasova believes.
According to Burliyat, a mother of Pakhrudin Makhaev all the widows of the Dagestanis killed in Chechnya have been put on the preventive police registration lists, and recently, a widow of one of the killed Dagestanis was taken to a police department, although she had already married another man.
