Stavropol citizen detained for reposting in social networks

Maxim Sleptsov, a resident of the city of Stavropol, has been detained for posting an announcement about a rally in support of Alexei Navalny* in the "VKontakte" social network. Sleptsov was left overnight at the police station, and charged with organizing an unsanctioned action and displaying the symbols of an extremist organization.

Maxim knew that law enforcers were looking for him, but he had nowhere to go but home, the "OVD-Info"** human rights project has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that in November 2021, Samvel Aristakesyan, an activist, was found guilty and fined by a court ruling for demonstrating prohibited extremist symbols when had posted the logo of the "Navalny Live" channel on the Instagram***.

*Navalny's offices are recognized as extremist organizations and banned in Russia. Alexei Navalny is a founder of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (known as FBK), an NCO that is included by the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) into the register of NCOs performing functions of a foreign agent. The NCO is also recognized by a court as extremist and banned in the territory of Russia.
