In Grozny, contract serviceman sentenced to two years in colony for evading service

The Grozny Military Court has sentenced Evgeny Eryomin, a contract military serviceman, to two years in colony, finding him guilty of leaving his unit without permit during the mobilization.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 24, 2022, after the announcement of the mobilization in Russia, a part of the article on the unauthorized abandonment of a unit or place of service during the mobilization was added to the Russian Criminal Code, providing for up to seven years of freedom deprivation. In December 2022, a court in Grozny sentenced Alexander Khmelyov, a military serviceman, to two years in colony, finding him guilty under this part of the criminal article.

On October 28, 2022, the Russian Minister of Defence reported on the completion of the mobilization, but no corresponding presidential decree was signed.

According to the above court, Eryomin took his service in a military unit in Chechnya and, wishing to temporarily evade service and take a break from his duties, during the period of the partial mobilization "failed to appear for service on time without any valid reason" and left for the city of Saratov, where he spent time at its discretion, the "Grozny-Inform" News Agency has informed.

After evasion, Eryomin voluntarily arrived at his military unit, but the court found him guilty.

Let us remind you that on September 23, 2022, Ramzan Kadyrov treated those who wouldn't go to Ukraine as part of mobilization as "cowards, traitors and second-class people." He suggested introducing heavy fines for service evaders and then sending them to the frontline.
