Relatives of Malgobek resident inform about his arrest within case on explosives
Kazbek Ataev, a resident of Malgobek, who has served a long term in colony under a terrorist article, has been detained after a search of his house; explosives were found there.
The security forces took away the 44-year-old Kazbek Ataev from his house located in the village of Psedakh, Malgobek District of Ingushetia. It happened on January 10, but his relatives were not informed about Ataev's fate until January 16, when it turned out that he was kept at a temporary detention facility (known as IVS). Ataev was taken away from the house by "six or seven men" who "put a bag over his head and took him away," the "Fortanga" outlet writes, referring to one of Ataev's relatives.
The court has placed Ataev into custody for two months.
In 2021, Ataev was released from colony, where he had served his 17-year-long sentence. "He was released a year ago. Together with his brother, he was engaged in repairs. All his acquaintances said that he was an ordinary, calm person ... He planned to get married in the spring," the outlet quotes one of Ataev's acquaintances.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in April 2005 Kazbek Ataev was sentenced to 17 years in prison on charges of terrorism, banditry, robbery, illegal carrying and possession of weapons and ammunition, and of attempted murder of law enforcers. The court established that in June 2004, Ataev and another resident of Ingushetia, Zelimkhan Medov, as members of a grouping, attacked the weapons depot of the Ingush branch of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and stole weapons and ammunition from there. As a result of the attack, 78 people perished and 104 others were wounded.
