Ramzan Kadyrov announced wanted in Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine (known as the SBU) has put Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of Chechnya, on the wanted list as a person hiding from the preliminary investigation bodies.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the SBU had suspected Kadyrov of preparing and participating in the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine, as well as an intention to change the state borders of Ukraine. The head of Chechnya has not denied the essence of charges and asked where he should to appear for interrogation.

According to the SBU's database, Kadyrov is accused of conducting "aggressive military operations." The Criminal Code of Ukraine provides for the punishment in the form of imprisonment for 10-15 years for such crimes, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Prior to the start of the SMO and during thereof, the head of Chechnya has repeatedly declared the need and readiness to "annex Ukraine." He has also stated that Russian militaries are acting slowly and inefficiently in Ukraine, advising President Putin, as the Supreme Commander, to order a "decisive assault" on Ukrainian cities.

Kadyrov regularly reports on sending groups of volunteers to Ukraine, including those from other regions of Russia. On September 7, Kadyrov announced that fighters from two "elite special units" had left for Ukraine from Grozny: the regiment "Sever" (North) named after Akhmat Kadyrov, and the "Yug" (South) battalion, as well as Chechen OMON (riot police) fighters from the "Akhmat-Grozny" unit and the so-called "oil-and-gas" police regiment.
