No forecasts on timing of mobilization in Dagestan possible due to information vacuum

The mobilization quota of Dagestan and the number of residents of the region already called up for the military service are not made public, so it is impossible to estimate the timing of the completion of the mobilization in the republic, analysts point out.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on October 17, in his Telegram channel, Dagestani leader Sergey Melikov announced that the partial mobilization should soon be completed in the republic. In their comments, social media users noted that the mobilization would end with the decision of the President of Russia, and not the leader of the region.

Dagestan is the leader among the regions of Southern Russia in terms of the death toll among the militaries and law enforcers perished in Ukraine. Since the beginning of the special military operation, the local authorities have confirmed the information about more than 800 residents of Southern Russia perished in Ukraine, including 512 residents of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) and 288 residents the South Federal District (SFD).

According to Ramazan Radjabov, the editor-in-chief of the “Youth of Dagestan” publication, the partial mobilization in Dagestan is likely to be completed soon, as the republican military registration and enlistment office already use a selective way when calling up local residents to the military service.

The journalist does not rule out that the republic’s mobilization quota could already be reached, since “a lot of people have been mobilized from Dagestan.”

Due to lack of the official information, it is impossible to judge to what extent the quotas for the mobilization are fulfilled in Dagestan, Boris Makarenko, the president of the Centre for Political Technologies Foundation, believes.

On October 3, the press service of Governor Vasily Golubev announced that the Rostov Region had fully implemented the plan for the partial mobilization, specifying that “the work will be continued upon receiving an additional task.”
