Opposition clashes with law enforcers near Yerevan Mayoralty

For an hour after the end of working hours, opposition supporters blocked the entrances and exits of the Yerevan Mayoralty urging the officials to join protests. Oppositionists clashed with the police near the Mayoralty.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 11, the "Resistance" oppositional movement organized several motor rallies in Yerevan, where the participants thereof called on townspeople to come to a rally demanding the resignation of the prime minister. Fifteen activists were detained for disobeying the police.

On May 11, the "Resistance" organized a march from France Square, where activists chanted: "Unity, struggle, victory!" and other slogans, urging people to join their protests. In front of the building of the Yerevan Mayoralty, Ishkhan Sagatelyan, the Vice Speaker of the Parliament from the "Aiastan" faction, a member of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun", called on his supporters to "surround the building, block entrances and exits, but not to enter the Mayoralty." After activists blocked the Mayoralty, police units of "red berets" began breaking through to the entrance of the building, pushing the protesters out of the place. There was a scuffle, after which activists were forced out of the area in front of the building.

In total, opposition supporters kept the Mayoralty blocked for more than an hour after the end of the working day.
