Mukhortov's wife demands to check his custody conditions in Adyg colony
Alexander Mukhortov, a resident of Sochi, who complained about received threats after he told media about torturing inmates in a Saratov colony, and achieved his transfer to Adygea, is in an isolation ward in inhuman conditions, his wife has stated.
Irina Yatsko, Mukhortov's wife, has sent applications to the Russian General Prosecutor's Office (GPO), the Ministry of Public Health and the POC (Public Oversight Commission) of Adygea, in which she asked to check his husband's custody conditions. According to her story, her sick husband was transferred from the hospital to a cell with unsanitary conditions.
"On April 7, I received information that my husband was placed into the dungeon (punishment cell, also known as ShIZO), where the window has no glass, it's very cold inside; the cell has no light sources, no drinking water in the tap; the conditions are unsanitary; and rats walk around," Irina told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
She received information about this from an acquaintance of her husband, who, according to his story, managed to film and transfer to her a video and photo of Mukhortov and the cell in which he is kept.
After looking at the photos, Victor Mitriy, the head of the POC for the Republic of Adygea, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he had never seen this cell. "The ShIZO in [the colony where Mukhortov is kept] looks completely different. All sanitary rules and requirements are observed there. Why Alexander Mukhortov ended up in this cell, and what kind of cell it is, we will clear out tomorrow [on April 12]," Victor has explained.
