Protesters in Tskhinvali call for an honest vote tabulation

Participants of the spontaneous action in Tskhinvali told the "Caucasian Knot" that they would not allow any falsification of voting outcomes.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 11 presidential elections were held in South Ossetia. According to preliminary data, the voter turnout was 82.07%. The opposition has announced the second round and declared its support for Alan Gagloev. The incumbent Anatoly Bibilov has also confirmed the high probability of the second round.

About 300 people gathered in Theatre Square in Tskhinvali, there were also oppositional presidential candidates among them. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent spoke with Alan Gagloev. "The second round will take place; the difference is somewhat about 900 votes. I feel the support of my people, who are here in the square," he said.

The participants told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent about what prompted them to come there at night.

"I came here just in case there were falsifications in order to prevent them. It's nice to see people who share the same opinion that this regime should be removed," said Zhanna Gvagenidze, a scientific worker.

"People are here, because they counted days and hours until the end of this regime. We hope that people are here to prevent our elections from being rigged. The president should be controlled by the society; however, in our society he decides everything, from accepting a cleaning lady up to joining Russia," Marina Dzgoeva, an activist, has stated.
