Armenian MFA reports contacts with Russia on gas supply to Nagorno-Karabakh

Armenia is in contact with Russian colleagues, since the problematic section of the gas pipeline, due to which Nagorno-Karabakh was left without gas supply, is in the responsibility zone of peacemakers. In connection with the gas supply outage, Stepanakert has accused Azerbaijan of humanitarian terrorism; and the public organization "My Home Artsakh" has called on the international community to recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh.

On Wednesday (March 23), the Azerbaijani MFA called the issue of gas supply an "internal matter" and called on Armenia not to make unjustified accusations. Djavid Osmanov, an Azeri MP, pointed out that Baku was not involved in gas supply outage to Karabakh.

On March 8, an accident occurred at the section of the Shushi-Zariflu gas pipeline, and gas supply to Karabakh was stopped. On March 19, the gas pipeline was repaired, but on March 22, the gas supply stopped again. Residents of the unrecognized republic have noted that all the communications should be controlled by peacemakers.

Armenia has made every diplomatic effort to restore the gas supply to Karabakh as soon as possible, Ararat Mirzoyan, the head of the Armenian MFA, has stated.

In its turn, the MFA of Nagorno-Karabakh has noted that nothing "can affect the will and determination of the people of Artsakh", which "will continue to live and create in their historical homeland, develop and strengthen its independent statehood."
