Death toll among Azerbaijani citizens in Ukraine rises to five

Five Azerbaijani citizens died in Ukraine after the outbreak of hostilities, and about 4000 others left the country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) reports today.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on February 27, three Azerbaijani citizens were killed during a shelling attack when they tried to evacuate from the Odessa Region of Ukraine to Moldova, and four others were injured. Another Azerbaijani citizen was killed by a shot from an unknown direction in the centre of Kharkov.

At a today’s briefing, Leyla Abdullaeva, the chief of the press service for the Azerbaijani MFA, has reported that five Azerbaijani citizens have died since the beginning of hostilities in Ukraine.

According to Leyla Abdullaeva, the Azerbaijani Embassy continues to evacuate the country’s citizens, and by March 2, about 4000 Azerbaijani citizens left Ukraine. Azerbaijani citizens can leave the country through the borders of Moldova, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania, the “Media.az” reports.
