Social network users dispute on the need to place refugees from Donbass in Dagestan

The Mayor of Makhachkala has announced the city readiness to accommodate 200 refugees in a boarding house in the suburb of the capital of Dagestan. Some social network users have supported the call to help refugees, while others called for resettling those who came from Donbass in those regions of Russia where the culture and mentality are closer to theirs.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 19, the presidential representative office in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) announced that the regions of Northern Caucasus were ready to accept 3300 refugees from eastern Ukraine, including accommodation of 600 refugees in Dagestan. Instagram users have expressed concern that visitors will be given the land plots claimed by local residents.

The start of evacuation of the local population to Russia was announced on February 18 by the heads of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR).

Makhachkala is ready to accept refugees from the DPR and LPR, the RIA "Dagestan" has quoted Salman Dadaev, the city Mayor, as saying. 200 refugees will be placed in the boarding house located in a Makhachkala suburb, where they will be provided with good living conditions, the RIA has reported.

Some Instagram users have supported the Mayor's call to help refugees from the DPR and LPR. Others opposed the receipt of refugees. "Why don't they go to Western Siberia and the Urals? They can also go to Eastern Siberia and the Far East!" the user zara_101_ has suggested.
