Azerbaijani President approves Shusha declaration

Ilham Aliev has signed a law approving the Shusha declaration on alliance with Turkey. The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has also approved the document, which includes an agreement on mutual military assistance.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 15, 2021, the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey signed the Shusha declaration on allied relations, which includes an agreement on mutual military assistance. The declaration consolidates the results of the 2020 Karabakh war and forms the legal basis for the countries' military alliance, Azerbaijani military experts have noted.

One of the declaration points deals with the Zangezur corridor. Its opening and construction of the Nakhichevan-Kars railway will make an important contribution to the intensification of Azerbaijan-Turkey transport communication.

The Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan approved the declaration on February 11, the "Anadolu" News Agency has reported.
