Shepherd hits a mine in Goranboy District

In the Goranboy District of Azerbaijan, a local resident was blown up by a mine; his left leg was amputated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the territories that have come under Azerbaijan's control, mine explosions occur regularly both with the military personnel and civilians.

Vugar Magsud oglu Mamedov, a 26-year-old resident of the village of Tapgaragoyunlu in the Goranboy District, got blown up by a mine on January 18 while doing agricultural work. As a result of the explosion, his left leg was damaged and amputated, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the Goranboy District Prosecutor's Office. The case is under investigation, a source has informed.

The village administration has added to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the accident happened in the afternoon on January 18.

Mamedov was grazing livestock and hit a mine while crossing the Indjechay River. The wounded shepherd managed to crawl away from the venue and call help by his mobile phone. His relatives arrived in time and took him to the district hospital, where the young man's left leg was amputated below the knee, said a source from the village administration.
